Wes Montgomery is considered one of the greatest jazz guitarists of all time and an influence to many legends who followed including Jimi Hendrix, Pat Martino, Pat Metheny and George Benson. Montgomery recorded with greats such as Cannonball Adderley, Jimmy Smith and turned down an opportunity to be in John Coltrane's band insisting that he was a guitar-playing band leader.

In his short career, his contributions are almost unmeasurable. His utilization of octaves and chord melodies created one of the most recognizable "voices" in jazz. Watch Wes' effortless finger-work and innovative approach to jazz guitar in these clips from the 1960's...
