Educate yourself with this gem from The Academy of Music in New York from 1972. This clean recording features the Dead, sounding as good as they ever have. Donna Jean would join the band a mere two days following this recording, but on this day it would just be the boys. This show in mid 1972 marked the near end of Pigpen's career and life, but on this date the boys would collectively transcend.

Highlights from the show include the opening "China Cat>Rider", "Tennessee Jed", "Jack Straw", "Casey Jones", "Truckin'", "Ramble on Rose", a massive "Dark Star", and a great closing "Not Fade Away> Going Down The Road>Not Fade Away"
