Today in Grateful Dead History: RFK Stadium 1973

Robert F. Kennedy Stadium

Words By J-man

This show from RFK on June 9th, 1973 featured The Dead, The Allman Bros and Gentle Giant in what was by many accounts an extremely memorable night! The party started early and by the end of the evening, folks had drank RFK out of alcohol, triggering multiple beer runs by stoic fans. On the music side of things, the Wall of Sound made for a large-scale production that felt like a spectacle. This soundboard recording captured the evening's huge sound really well.
