We are counting down the days to the first-ever, Cascade Equinox Festival taking place September 22-24th. As we close out the summer months and welcome in the fall, we come to the Deschutes County Fairgrounds in Redmond, OR & explore a diverse and eclectic blend of music including Jam, Electronic, Funk, Bluegrass, and Soul acts. With so many artists and genres to explore, it may be overwhelming to plan which are a must-see, and which sets you’ll spontaneously stumble upon. This could be one of the greatest line-ups Central Oregon has yet to see. The following are 5 artists not to miss at Cascade Equinox!

1. Pretty Lights

Electronic music pioneer Derek Smith (Pretty Lights) is following a five year hiatus and Cascade Equinox is boasting its headliner as his only Pacific Northwest performance on his Soundship Spacesystem Tour. Pretty Lights took the hiatus at the top of his game after his 10th year anniversary shows at Red Rocks Amphitheater in 2018. The release of his last single, “Rainbows and Waterfalls,” was back in 2017 and many are anticipating new material to be performed throughout his tour in hopes of a new release.

2. Goose

Easily America’s new face of Jam music. In the realm of Phish and Umphrey’s McGee, they have risen to prominence quite considerably within the post-pandemic landscape. This band is composed of Peter Anspach (keyboards/guitar), Jeff Areval (percussion), Ben Atkind (drums), Rick Mitarotonda (guitar/vocals), and Trevor Weeks (bass). They just released a new 3 song EP entitled, Autumn Crossing, on September 8th and are set to start their fall tour September 13th in Boston, MA.

3. Trevor Hall & The Great In-Between

Trevor Hall is another artist who is releasing new music within a couple weeks just before Cascade Equinox Festival. He has been teasing his new album release under a new vision and presenting the title of the album as his new performance moniker, “Trevor Hall and The Great In-Between.” Singles from the album yet to be released prove a new identity in his sound as he pushes the boundaries of his unique spiritual blend of folk, soul, and reggae.

4. Gone Gone Beyond

Gone Gone Beyond is a musical group formed by four talented and culturally diverse individuals David Block (aka The Human Experience), Danny Musengo, Kat Factor, and Mel Semé. Gone Gone Beyond is a perfect representation of cross-genre music fueled by multi-instrumentalists/singer-songwriters that have developed a new folk sound for the future. The band’s most recent album, 2030, takes the listener on a journey exploring the future, while understanding a deeper sense of the present. Gone Gone Beyond’s music is wild, exploratory, and transformative.

5. Lespecial

This powerhouse progressive trio is made up of Luke Bemand (bass, synth, percussion, vocals), Jonathan Grusauskas (guitar, synth, sampler, percussion, vocals), and Rory Dolan (drums, sampler, percussion, vocals). They are well known for their unique and adventurous sets that breathes a completely different air that seems to be of another world. These dudes flaunt odd-time jazzy synth prog madness. They have also just announced a new album to be released September 29th entitled, Odd Times.
